The design for the centennial class ring has been revealed. 400 rings have been ordered, valued at over $400,000 each. President Higdon said it took nearly “the entire endowment” to fund the project. Alumni and trustees agreed with the graduating senior class that it “was totally worth it. I mean look at that sucker.”

We are excited to bring the speakers of the Newark Peace Education Summit to VYou. A panel of national and international activist from various cultures, disciplines and perspectives.

We will be setting up VYou stations at the event for audience interactions. There will also be an opportunity to participant in the conversation and share your thoughts. Tickets for all 3 days of the summit are still available at www.newarkpeace.org

Some of the panelists included on the channel are:

Robert Thurman: American Buddhist writer and academic who has authored, edited or translated several books on Tibetan Buddhism.

Author Romano: Certified nonviolence trainer and accomplished international educator who has worked globally to challenge violence and promote peace.

About the conference: The summit will be held on May 13-15, 2011 and will be focusing on peacemaking practices from around the world. “During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions, until I read the last one: “What is the first name of the woman who cleans your dorm?” Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name? I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade. “Absolutely,” said the professor. “In your careers you will meet many people. All are significant.””

A Spanish politician says he may sue the FBI over a photo of Bin Laden

A Spanish politician said that he was “stupefied” by the decision of the FBI to use a photograph of him to compose their latest image of the Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, and that he his considering taking legal actions.

“First I will ask the FBI for an explanation, which they haven’t given me, and later I reserve the right to take legal action,” said Gaspar Llamazares.

“Recently I have seen security agencies involved in some very strange things, in some big mistakes, although I never would have believed that it could affect me so directly,” he added.

The artist has collected and annotated examples of doctored photos published by official sources, from Stalin’s Soviet government to our own FBI.
